We stayed in 833 this time. I did prefer 836 because it was a bit more private getting in and out of room. 833 is on the end of the main wide entry area for multiple floors. Having said that, I Very Much appreciate that our initial booking would have meant level 1 but we were accommodated on the ground floor to support my husband recovering from ankle surgery and still has issues with stairs. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE the courtyards ( both the internal from our room directly when on ground floor) and the beautiful outdoor area by the pool with a HUGE grassed area outside of same and tables ( with great cover from the sun when hot) Heaps of room if the pool is busy and you still want a beautiful area close but quieter and serene. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. I am fussy when staying away would normally be happy paying around $200 or more a night for something nice, clean and inviting. This room cost us $108.00 and is ABSOLUTE value for money. More than one would ever experience for the dollar value. Truly recommend any time and that is why we have and will continue to stay at the Devon any time we are in New Plymouth. :) Central and easy access, Great Staff!! Drinks etc great pricing, Marbles nice if you wish to have a buffet in house and not travel, main menu great if you want a more A La Carte experience! Thank You Management and Staff :)

Just wonderful! From first contact, to the late night presence, good morning wishes, calm manners and happy staff. Love the art work in the hotel, gardens.... I spent alot of time trying to assimilate to the time difference just looking for the next art piece. We really enjoyed the bikes and pool. The 24/7 room service menus were excellent and it was so good to be able to wash our clothes. Lastly.... Tohu wines! So good. Ngā mihi maioha kia koutou! If I were to offer constructive feedback.... It is very practical to utilise the bathroom basin to wash cups and fill the hot water jug, however... perhaps bottles of water in the fridge to offer instead. I am Māori, it is a cringing idea to contemplate taking such items into a body washing and cleansing area ie: tapu (sacred), tikanga (customary practice) We managed by refilling our water bottles and rinsing our cups in the garden. Thats all I got... cultural thoughts and affirmations. Thank you

I absolutely loved the little romantic touches added to the room in celebration of our 1yr anniversary. • the fruit bowl filled with chocolates included • champagne and wine glasses nicely set up with a single stem rose in vase • the postcard of beautiful Mt. Taranaki was a nice touch also and we are very appreciative thank you 😊 The room itself was very spacious and pristine. I liked having the option of being able to relax and watch the TV(s) either in the living room area or the bedroom. The garden was very well maintained clean/tidy - I loved the Marble statues and I loved being able to have the option of relaxing in the sun under shade/umbrellas set at the tables and having a cigarette dispensary for those of us whom smoke. The pool I thought was based in a convenient location not too far from the tables/seating area for those who have young ones to keep an eye on.

The hotel had lots of facilities to entertain the kids. There's a seating area outside for mini pinics, a sunshade area with outdoor furniture to view the poolside, and people watch or provide supervision and changing rooms with jacuzzi as well as the regular pool. You can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the same building with Marbles restaurant downstairs. I had a spa bath in our room with two tvs, so you dont have to fight over the tv. Free wifi is also available. Walking distance to local shops - we walked all the way to New Plymouth mall and eateries. We also had free laundry and dryer in our room for long stay. 😁 also looks like the pool exterior got a repaint which was great.

Large King Size bed in their Queen Suites are really comfortable with sufficient pillows and even a pillow service if you are needing a particular type of pillow. The Welcome folder had lots of information and rooms come with Tea and Coffee Facilities with a fridge, desk and table and rooms are serviced daily. Lots of dining space and a separate bar with lots of quiet spaces throughout the facility. Loved the promotion of the use of free bikes to get you out and about with lots to see and do at your own pace.
